Mekos Laboratories ApS is a pharmaceutical niche company specialized in the field of contact allergy testing.
The company was established on January 1, 2001 based on a management-buy-out of Pharmacia & Upjohn Hillerød AS in Denmark from the multinational pharmaceutical group, Pharmacia Corporation Inc. The acquisition included the global business and all other assets relating to a patented technology used in patch test systems for diagnosis of contact allergy; TRUE Test® and Nixema®
TRUE Test is a ready-to-use patch test system and is used as a screening tool by health care professionals to diagnose allergy contact dermatitis in patients.
Nixema is an innovative self-test that offers consumers an easy way to identify contact allergy to nickel and fragrances.
In December 2006 Mekos Laboratories was acquired by Allerderm laboratories, an affiliate of SmartHealth inc. which is headquatered in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mekos Laboratories ApS is active in both R&D, production and sales & marketing of the TRUE Test® system for diagnosis of contact allergy caused by exposure to allergens in the environment (for example nickel, fragrances and preservatives).
TRUE Test® is marketed and distributed on the global market by a network of local distributors in more than 45 countries with US and Europe as primary markets at present.
Nixema® is currently distributed in Denmark.

Our company mission is twofold:
-Production of the present TRUE Test® system for sale on the global market meeting the high quality requirements established by the current standards from health authorities.
-Development of the TRUE Test® system on the global market by improving the reliability and availability of patch test allergens based on R&D activities.
Our company vision is to accomplish a major contribution to the development of improved patch testing procedures with improved and standardized patch testing materials. Such a development will serve to improve the quality of life for the increasing number of contact allergic patients throughout the world.
